Jackie Hett 1928-2022

Jacqueline Louise Manuel was born in Enid Oklahoma in 1928. She moved with her family to Aulne Kansas when she was 9 years old. In 1946, she married Walter Hett. Walt and Jackie initially leased land that they farmed and raised cattle and hogs on. In 1959, they purchased 600 acres and a house in the Flint Hills in southeastern Marion County, Kansas, where they raised a family of 4 children. Walt passed away in 1998 and Jackie continued, with the help of her son Steve, to run what had become a 2000 acre, 250 pair, cow/calf operation. Today the ranch is a family affair that includes grandson Jeff Ensey and daughter and son in law Melanie and Larry Ensey. Jackie moved to town in 2012 and Melanie and Larry moved to the ranch. Jeff lives 3 miles down the road with wife Laura and children Zeke and Elizabeth. Because of her vast knowledge of ranching, Jackie continued as CEO until her death. Mark Feiden and Melanie Ensey visited with Jackie on May 15, 2019. Jackie was 91 years old at that time.
