Irlene Huntington and Heather Fuesz Irlene Rawlings Huntington is (as of May 2024) 91 years young. Because her mother chose to be a career woman/teacher, she didn't marry for years. Irlene was her only child, born when her mother was 40. Irlene graduated from Eureka High School as salutatorian, and went on to KSU where she graduated in three and a half years. She was an IFYE exchange student to Scotland. After college she had a career as an extension agent and later taught home economics. Irlene married Clint Huntington in 1956. Clint was a rancher without much of a ranch—his father died when he was just 16. When he married Irlene, he left his mother and brothers everything, including the family saddle horse. Irlene and Clint worked hard, together, to build an operation. Farrell Hoy, Mark Feiden, and Heather Fuesz visited with Irlene at her home near Eureka, Kansas, on July 19, 2021. Mark Feiden and Samantha Weishaar visited Irlene again on April 25, 2024,—this time putting daughter Heather in front of the camera as well. This second interview was part of a collaboration with Ranchland Trust of Kansas called the Grassland Conservation Series.
